Barrasford Quarry - Dust Supression Improvements

Dear Martyn,

In addition to the site inspection report dated 28 October 2010 I write regarding the dust suppression improvements at Barrasford Quarry.

It is appropriate the the County Council recognises and commends the significant investment that Tarmac has made to dust suppression at Barrasford Quarry. The new dust suppression infrastructure is a welcome and substantial improvement though not yet observed under very challenging conditions it is considered that the equipment shall be effective at minimising dust generation from site operations. In addition the static dust suppression equipment shall reduce the need for a mobile water browser unit and therefore contribute to reducing CO2 emissions from the site.

The improvements are considered to be in accordance with best practice in the minerals industry and shall be used as an example for other mineral sites in the country.
